My name is <a href="https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100007772928624" target="_blank">Daniela Štěchová</a> and I am the mother of nine year old Adam.

Adam was born a completely healthy child. He developed fine until he was a year and a half. Then a strange change in his behavior occurred. It was like he suddenly turned off, he stopped saying „mama“, „papa“ he stopped showing how tall he was and so on. He just kept jumping, waving his hands and spinning in circles. Even with playing games he was different. He would usually build things in order, he would watch the wheels of the cars, which spun, he then started to turn the lights on and off and mainly started playing with water.

To the age of three Adam didn't make any progress in his development. In school he started to learn everything much slower – helping himself, sorting colors, etc. He stopped responding to his name and eye contact was at a minimum. He started to speak again around five and a half years old.

Then followed a circle of treatments and chasing doctors, who after one week of him staying in the psychiatric hospital Motol diagnosed him with childrens autism and hyper-kinetic syndrome. The only person who discovered this was doctor Peřina. The other doctors thought Adam just has ADHD and moderate mental retardation.

Adam love numbers more than anything, table calendars and digital clocks. If you tell him any date to the year 2022, he will tell you actually what day of the week that is. Everything has to been to plan and he insists on holding his rituals. For example in the morning he has to walk up at 6:20, put the calendar in his bag, then bus number 2 comes at 6:50 and bus number 8 at 6:57. He watches the same path everyday. When he comes home from school, the first thing he does is get naked. Adam is in the second grade in a special school for autistic children. He enjoys math, which he really knows but writing and reading cause him hysteric attacks at home.

Even though I studied medical school, I didn’t know much about autism. I knew this disease only from movies, and how did I deal with this? Honestly, I felt a little relieved that my sons behavior is caused by autism and not my parenting.&nbsp;

Sometimes we have problems with other peoples reactions about my sons behavior, because they think that my son is not well behaved. His father doesn't live with us, but he visits. Adam likes him very much they have a good relationship and he is the only one he listens to. When Adam grows up he would like to be a firefighter just like his father.

I go to work regularly, usually on the night shift where I can relax from everyday problems and grandma can take care of Adam.&nbsp;

Every Tuesday Adam visit the autistic center in České Budějovice, which he likes very much and is happy there. Specifically he visits the free services – movement classes and practicing social ability. He would also like to attend a <a href="https://www.autiscentrum.cz/sluzby/odlehcovaci-vikendove-pobyty/?fbclid=IwAR1FkxlFkBxbpXEfyGCuGILVh7tp2QAdigm4rrn1HMWjLj7BW4YsZO-kHT4" target="_blank">weekend camp, that is hosted by the autistic center</a>. Unfortunately these camps cost about 2000 CZK that is why I would like to ask you for help so that Adam could attend at least one of these camps.&nbsp;

Little Adam has autism, help fulfill his dream
